I spent several hours on the phone with Star tech support trying to figure out if I did something wrong during the set up, but they said everything was installed correctly. After changing settings and trying the printer out for a couple more days, the same problems kept occurring. Eventually we decided it was a defective unit so we ordered another one. They sent us the USB printer, NOT the ethernet printer we obviously need for our restaurant. By then, we had gotten so fed up with Star I decided to return them both. When trying to return the malfunctioning ethernet printer, Amazon gave us the run around and sent us to Star, who sent us back to Amazon, who sent us to Star in a never ending paradox.

You can add your logo and text to your receipt. This is done with software that is included with the receipt printer. By adding your logo to your receipts you have a place to advertise your business. You can also put your phone number on your receipt or your website URL. This is a good thing to do if you’re selling at a craft show, fair, farmers market and etc. The customer may not remember your name and may not go online to search for your website. But if you put your website on the receipt you have a better chance of the customers visiting your website to make a purchase.

Business travelers should consider the traditional (if petite) document printers designed to output letter-size content from computers, at a quality you’d expect from desktop inkjets. Consumers who want to print and hand out snapshots at parties or other events will want a photo printer that can churn out 4-by-6-inch (and, in some cases, 5-by-7-inch) prints from memory cards or USB keys, or from computers or mobile devices over a wired or wireless connection.
Bottom Line: The Epson PictureMate PM-400 Personal Photo Lab prints high-quality photos at up to 5 by 7 inches, but the cost of even 4-by-6 photos is higher than with Epson’s 4-by-6 dedicated photo printers.

Most of these devices offer batteries (standard or optional), so you need not be near a wall outlet to print. Some of the smallest models can wirelessly print wallet-size photos exclusively from smartphones or tablets. Then there are label printers, some of which print from label programs installed on a computer, and some of which are standalone models.
Scanners with Square for Android function as keyboard wedge scanners (they input data where the cursor is on the screen). From our testing (as of 5/1/2017), they are only able search within the Items Menu screen. They can search by product name or by SKU, but only numeric SKU, no alphanumeric SKU or alphanumeric part number. Also, unlike scanners with Square for iOS, scanners with Square for Android do not automatically add the scanned part number to the order. USB barcode scanners are only compatible with devices running Android 5.0 or higher. For other barcode scanners, see our list of Unofficially Compatible Barcode Scanners.
@usascottwright – While we don’t currently support Epson printers, it’s definitely a popular feature request. I’ll update this thread if that changes in the future! Also, apologies for the delay in following up with you.
Atm it’s cheaper for me to use something else other than square, than to change the printer tablet setup. It appears other people have similar issues. Square managment need to grasp the economics here of only catering to a small hardware segment(Star printers) of the market, while marketing themselves as a simple DIY eftpos POS for small businesses, who burn themselves on compatability issues. Hopefully Square can solve this issue.
Plug and Play – Square network picked it up assigned and working in seconds. We have two of these (Thermal) and two impact versions and literally, we were talking about how long it would take to set them up…my brother was on the device and I was in the kitchen…i plugged them in and before I even walked through the door he had them set up and assigned. Magic!

To print on large-size paper with some near-dedicated photo printers, you have to feed a single sheet from the front, after which the printer loads it by feeding it all the way out of a back slot on the printer, and then prints while moving the paper forward again. If you don’t have enough free flat space for this approach to printing, look for a printer that can handle roll paper, can feed large-size cut sheets from a standard tray, or both.
This unit worked very well out of the box. Yes, it would have been nice to find instructions, or even a url for where to find the manual, but some kind souls have posted about that in the q&a, so no biggie. But yesterday I plugged it in to charge, after. It using it for a couple of weeks, and no joy. The unit shows no sign of life at. I have removed the battery, checked and wiped the connections, etc etc. The return window closed 26 days ago so looks like I’m screwed 🙁 I’m dismayed to have spent $295 (including taxes) for a paperweight, and not sure what to do next. 😩
We’ve been using this printer for over a year, and never had any issues. It’s such a great product, built to last! So easy to use with the Square app on the iPad! I have set other businesses up with this receipt printer!

I got it for scrapbooking and a travel journal. Don’t expect high quality and res prints, it’s a tiny mobile printer after all. If you want high quality prints, mobile printers aren’t what you’re looking for. I did extensive research to compare between the Polaroid ZIP, Instax Share, HP Sprocket and Kodak and image quality, yellow/reddish vintage-like hues and lower res images seem to be the prevalent complaint. I settled on Polaroid because the app allowed collages and white frames for the polaroid effect. It seemed to have better options than the other apps.
